Goal 2 is about growing the unit by taking on new competitive experiences. Pushing the team to try a competition you haven’t participated in before directly expands what the unit can do, tests skills in unfamiliar settings, and shows visible progress in broadening competitive capabilities. It creates measurable growth as you track what new events you enter and how the team performs.

Expanding the unit’s social media presence, while valuable for visibility and outreach, focuses on communications rather than the actual competitive growth the goal aims for. Being a leader in community service projects is admirable and important, but it targets service leadership rather than broadening competitive experience. Earning a Service Academy scholarship for all cadets isn’t realistic or appropriate as a unit goal, since scholarships are individual opportunities and cannot be guaranteed for every cadet.

So the choice that best fits a Goal 2 focus on expanding competitive experience is participating in a competition you have not participated in before.
